LOUISE CARLETON-GERTSCH
SPEAKER. AUTHOR. CONSULTANT.

About me

THE OFFICIAL NARRATIVE
I'm a freelance speaker, author and consultant for digital and learning. Over the past thirty years, I've worked  at the educational publisher Ernst Klett Verlag, the US educational software company The Learning Company and the start-up KidZ Vision, finally going freelance in 2001. Since then, I have established myself as a speaker in schools and at conferences in Germany and abroad, giving workshops and seminars, creating materials for learning English, as well as consulting on digital content for children.

THE DEEPER MEANING
Making learning engaging and rewarding is what drives me. I believe that integrating different media, making learning relevant to students and their lives, as well as encouraging them to follow their natural curiosity are key. And so I'm continually looking for innovative ideas to do this in a meaningful way.

ON A PERSONAL NOTE
I live in Munich with my husband and daughter, spend most of my free time playing the violin in various ensembles, being taken for walks in the local forests by our two golden retrievers, curled up with a good book, trying my hand at something new, or simply relaxing with family and friends.

I BELIEVE IN
INTEGRITY because we value those we can trust
QUALITY because nothing but the best is good enough
CURIOSITY because this is what keeps us doing our best work
CREATIVITY because custom-made solutions are the ones you need
INDIVIDUALITY because each interaction is unique

"Louise Carleton-Gertsch has worked as an author and presenter for Ernst Klett Sprachen for many years. The wide range of her expertise – from how to make Shakespeare fun to how to learn and successfully retain vocabulary is impressive. Her best-seller "Words in Context" has been a trustworthy handbook for a myriad of upper secondary students and teachers. She knows the ins and outs of teaching like the back of her hand and applies that knowledge in practical and informative ways. Her focus on how to use new media in a sensible manner is a refreshing and timely addition to the teaching discourse. In the numerous online seminars on diverse topics that she does for Ernst Klett Sprachen, hundreds of teachers have grown to respect her knowledge and appreciate her immensely helpful and motivating talks and workshops."Elizabeth Webster, former Managing Director, Ernst Klett Sprachen
